Overall objective of the book

Telemedicine applications will play an increasingly important role in health care and provide tools that are indispensable for home health care, remote patient monitoring, and disease management, that encompasses not only rural health and battlefield care, but nursing home, assisted living facilities, and maritime and aviation applications. The book will provide the forum for the dissemination and exchange of up-to-date scientific information on theoretical, generic and applied areas of Telemedicine. It will publish new discoveries and improvements, innovative ideas and concepts, as well as novel applications and business models which are related to the field and are proven to be of high quality.

Recent trend of issuing several shorter publications per research leads to fragmentation of the research findings. Such practice makes it difficult for the interested reader to retrieve and grasp the entire research output of the given research project. For this reason it is essential that we contribute to the density of scientific research by publishing the broader perspective of our research in one place. This book provides such space, together with the option to extend the book chapter with video, audio, PPT, PDFs and discussion forum which allows the authors to create a media rich central point for their work. This book will represent the contributions of the top researchers in this field and serve as a valuable tool for scientists, researchers, graduate student and professionals.

About Open Access

Open Access means everything published in IN-TECH journals, books and conferences is immediately available online for free. Read it, download it, print it, and copy it - all use is fair use, so long as the original authors and source are credited. Open Access (OA) removes price barriers (subscriptions, licensing fees, pay-per-view fees) and permission barriers (most copyright and licensing restrictions).

There are many benefits of Open Access, both for researchers and authors. Here are the most important benefits:

Publishing costs

InTech books are published under Open Access publishing model, which means that they are free to read by anyone, anywhere in the world.
The Publishing Fee covers the expenses of producing the book. It covers the expenses of technical staff, publishing process managers, preparation of the book and finally, printing and sending you the hardcopy of your book via worldwide express delivery service.

Publishing with Open Access is not without costs since the book is also going to be published in printed edition with ISBN number (costs of review, corrections, preparation for print, print, postal shipment, cover design...).

The corresponding author will also receive one copy of the book, and books are going to be sent to the major world university libraries free of charge.

The publishing fee per chapter is 470 Euro.

In comparison to other open access publishers, that imply the author fee of minimum 3000 Euro, this publishing fee is rather symbolic.

Note: This is not going to be an e-book, rather a printed book with free online access as well.
